We have recently begun asking our followers on facebook and the members of ClubWorx to ask us questions they have about physical therapy. This was the most recent posed question.
Do you have Occupational Therapy for any hand/wrist injuries?
Occupational Therapy is a different degree and licensure than Physical Therapy. While Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy do sometimes overlap, they are not the same. Occupational Therapists can treat people with hand and wrist problems, however Physical Therapists also see people who have wrist and hand injuries. Both Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists can become Certified Hand Therapists (CHT) by taking continuing education classes and a specialty exam. We here at Back in Action can evaluate and treat you for problems such as hand and wrist arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist sprains, tendonitis and many other common wrist and hand issues. If we determine that your problem is outside of our scope, we will happily refer you to a Certified Hand Therapist. |

Did you know the therapists at Back In Action regularly spend their lunch hours studying and learning new techniques to become better clinicians? We discuss current patient cases and new methods to optimally benefit you, the patient.
Once a month, we take an extra hour to review research, practice manual therapy techniques, and specifically review one joint or area of the body. In November, we reviewed the neck, followed by the thoracic spine and ribs, and then. In January we moved down to down to the low back and in February reviewed the shoulder.
We dedicate time to this practice so that we continue to become better at what we do, making you better.
If you stop by during lunch and the lights are out and the curtain is drawn, you can be sure we are thinking hard and challenging ourselves so when we reopen, we will be more prepared than the last time we saw you. |
