Kristal Nelson PT
Kristal grew up in Raleigh and moved to Fuquay with her husband Jeff 10 years ago. They founded Back in Action PT in 2001 driven by a passion for excellent patient care and customer service. She received her masters from UNC-CH in 1998 but is still true to her NC State roots. Kristal is currently undertaking a Sports Residency Program through EIM. Her primary interest is helping athletes of all ages return to the field or court. She is on the Sports Medicine team at Fuquay Varina High School and is very involved with the FVAA soccer program. During the summer she offers specialized conditioning program for athletes. Kristal enjoys adventure travel with Jeff and their two boys, playing tennis, stained glass, and scuba diving. |

Melanie Caron
Melanie grew up in NE Ohio and moved to the Raleigh area with her husband Rob 15 years ago. She received her BS in Marketing from the University of Akron. Melanie has been the Office Manager at Back in Action since 2002. In her spare time she loves traveling to the west coast at least once a year with her husband and 2 kids, running, biking, and relaxing with a book. |

Kurt Brooks, PT, DScPT
Kurt grew up in College Park, Maryland and moved to the Raleigh area in 1994 with his wife. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1992 with a BS in physical therapy and again in 2003 with a Doctorate of Science in Physical Therapy. Kurt completed his manual therapy residency training in 1997, has been a clinical coordinator for a large physical therapy company as well as a teaching assistant and guest lecturer in the Duke University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program until 2008, when he joined Back in Action. His clinical interests include general orthopaedics and integrating his manual therapy skills with the sports medicine population. In his spare time, Kurt enjoys being a part of the Middle Creek High School Sports Medicine Team, tae kwon do, playing volleyball, and coaching soccer. Go Terps!! |

Sean Nixon, PT, DPT, LAT, ATC
A native of Raleigh, NC, Sean graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree. He also attended UNC-CH for his undergraduate education where he received a B.A. degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Athletic Training. Sean has been working in outpatient orthopedics for 2 years and joined Back in Action in 2010. He believes in incorporating patient education and functional training into his treatment so that patients can have the tools to return to their full level of activity. In his spare time, Sean plays soccer, volleyball, and hike/camps in the moutains of the South East. |

J. Clayton Greene, PT, DPT
Clayton grew up in eastern North Carolina in a small town called Tabor City. In 2002, he moved to Chapel Hill where he attended UNC for undergrad and then graduate school to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2010. During his time there, he fell in love with the triangle and Kristen, his wife (also a Tar Heel). Clayton did his doctoral thesis on treatment-based classification systems for low back pain. Clayton loves to dig deep and find the cause of the pain or movement problems so that his patients have lasting relief from pain and are able to understand and know how to manage their own health and well-being. In his spare time, Clayton loves basketball and running his own screen-printing company.
Amanda Flowers, PT, DPT
Amanda grew up in a suburb of Flint, Michigan and is a recent transplant from Wilmington, North Carolina where she lived for 3.5 yrs. She recently left the beach and moved to the Raleigh area in July to expand her career as a physical therapist with Back in Action. She graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan in 2008. She has been working in private practice orthopedics for 3.5 yrs. Amanda focuses her practice on patient centered treatment and incorporating the whole body in order for her patients to return and maintain full function. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys being a fanatic about Michigan football, competes in Triathlons and loves the beach scene. Go Wolverines!
